Lillyvette first gained an interest in fitness when she was 12 years old and started running for her school track team. She developed a passion for running and continued to run throughout her junior high, high school, and college teams. Lillyvette is a 200 RYT, Trauma-Informed Yoga Instructor, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, and Mindfulness Self-Compassion Facilitator and an ACE Certified Personal Trainer.
After working 10-years in public affairs and operations management, her personal dedication and passion for health and wellness led her to decide to make fitness her profession. Lillyvette has worked in the fitness industry since August 2000. She started her career working in a personal training studio and later broke out on her own helping clients as young as 16 years old up to 80 years old to achieve their fitness and wellness goals. She has worked with clients that have had chronic neck, back, and knee pain; as well as those recovering from shoulder and breast cancer surgeries. She enjoys designing individualized workouts for her clients and strives to keep her clients challenged and interested ensuring her clients experience variety and feel comfortable with her as they move forward with their strength and health goals. She is a there to listen to her client’s needs and to guide them on their specific wellness journey.
She has also taught a variety of group training classes including barbell strength training, cycle classes, core training, yoga, and meditation.
In 2008, she Introduced yoga to both her personal and professional life, bridging a gap between her physical and spiritual worlds. This allowed her to take a traumatic event in her life and dig deeper into her practice. It allowed her to complete a healing process that truly went full circle.
That opportunity also encouraged her to become a container for practitioners who had also suffered trauma and who additionally, like her, might have had trouble accepting their body at certain times in their life. She wanted to become a facilitator for them as they embarked on their own yogic journey that could lead them down the path of healing and acceptance.
She enjoys and welcomes working with people at all levels and stages in their yogic journey. Whether someone comes for a vinyasa flow, Hatha, restorative, chair yoga, yin, all-levels, or meditation practice…she is there to guide and facilitate this experience for them with compassion.
Lillyvette considers having the opportunity to hold space for a variety of individuals through her yoga, and mindfulness meditation practice an honor and a privilege – “I am dedicated to doing good and serving others as much as I possibly can since I feel this is my dharma” – my purpose in life.”
She is married to her best friend, Haakon. They have three playful and amazing dogs: Lucky (14 y/o Ridgeback/Shar-Pei mix), Milo (11 y/o Labernese Mix), and Blue (8 y/o Ridgless Ridgeback). They enjoy hiking, biking, and unplanned adventures. She enjoys crochet, knitting, and reading in her spare time.
I've heard so many people say they participate in yoga classes because they're not flexible enough. Sometimes they tell me that when they get stronger, they'll join the class. Other times, they tell me they don't "look like the typical yoga practitioner." What does that even mean?
Yoga is so much more than all of this. Yoga does not require you to "look" any certain way. Yoga is for ALL body types. Yoga will allow you to get more flexible, stronger -- inside and out --, and develop a greater sense of compassion for yourself.
There is no such thing as a "perfect pose" or even the "perfect body."
Allow yourself to enjoy a practice that will allow you to focus on yourself, your breath, your mind.
Remember, they call it "practice" for a reason.
I look forward to having you join me on the mat with all of my imperfections...working toward acceptance.
Namaste

Flow 4 Balance was established to help you incorporate yoga, mindfulness, compassion, and acceptance into your life
Regardless of whether you are a beginner or an advanced practitioner, Flow 4 Balance can be easily integrated into your life. Our purpose is to help you "hold space."
My purpose in establishing Flow4Balance was to make yoga and mindfulness accessible to everyone. Self-care and wellness should be available to every individual who needs it and has the desire to feel better.
Yoga allows us to grow in strength, balance, compassion and provides us with an opportunity to calm our minds. Yoga is moving mindfulness...it is a meditation flow that allows you to connect with your breath and strengthen you from the inside out. It isn't meant to be difficult or to make you feel less than anybody else. Your practice should allow you to feel a connection to self...a bridge that connects your body to your soul through your breath. The place where you land is your heart...with compassion, self-love and acceptance.
Mindfulness can be done on a yoga mat seated or lying down, on a chair, or in any place you feel calm, strong, yet neutral. You choose what best serves your needs. Although sitting or laying in stillness might seem easy, having someone guide you and put you at ease is extremely helpful. Allow Flow 4 Balance to guide you on a mindfulness journey that can help you alleviate stress, learn to respond to unexpected situations, and deal more effectively with anxiety.
It seems like mindfulness is the new "buzzword" we are hearing about everywhere. Yet mindfulness is not a new thing. Mindfulness has roots that reach 2,500 years into the past, and this hardly makes it the "new thing" to implement into our lives. While mindfulness practices have assumed different roles over these thousands of years, the purpose has remained constant: to end suffering.
Mindfulness means paying attention on purpose in the present moment with an open-hearted, curious, and non-judgmental attitude.
Mindfulness meditation is also referred to as "insightful meditation." They call it "insightful meditation" because you will ultimately gain insight into areas of your life you may not have imagined. For instance, you will understand why you respond to certain things the way you do more clearly. You may also learn to take better care of yourself. This can all lead to mindful awareness, mindful eating, and self-care -- these can all develop in time with the regular integration of mindfulness practice.
